Bannock Youth Foundation has been a long-standing support and advocate for youth and families in our community.
Founded in 1978 as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth, the organization expanded throughout the1980s and early 1990s to provide supportive services for victims of sexual abuse, teenage mothers, transitional housing participants, and youth involved with juvenile probation.

Our Story
In the winter of 1996, the executive director at the time helped establish MK Place in memory of his sister. MK Place later became the largest adolescent substance abuse treatment provider in Idaho, providing critical treatment and recovery services to youth across the state.
Throughout its history, Bannock Youth Foundation has built strong partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, local governments, businesses, faith-based organizations, and other nonprofit agencies to ensure youth and families have access to comprehensive support. These collaborative relationships have strengthened the Foundation’s ability to respond to community needs and provide coordinated services.
The organization’s growth has also been supported through numerous federal, state, local, and private funding and grants, as well as the generosity of community donors and supporters. These funding partnerships have allowed Bannock Youth Foundation to expand programs, enhance services, and reach more individuals in need.
During the 2000s and 2010s, the original shelter operations evolved into Bannock House, a Licensed Qualified Residential Treatment Program. Today, Bannock Youth Foundation operates 13 programs across four facilities, serving youth and families from expecting mothers through young adulthood. Through a wide range of services—including free counseling, case management, support groups, inpatient and outpatient treatment, housing assistance, and family support services—the Foundation remains committed to strengthening youth, empowering families, and building a healthier community for future generations.
